Gaither’s Kamren Hawkins expects to find out the extent of damage to his ankle later today.
The senior quarterback rolled his ankle in the first quarter of Gaither’s district victory against Mitchell last Friday. He left the game on crutches, but Kantor said that was a preventative measure. Hawkins doesn’t need the aid of crutches anymore.
Hawkins was checked out by a doctor on Saturday and X-rays were negative.
If Hawkins is unable to play Thursday against Alonso, sophomore quarterback Dominic Marino would take his place.

Ric Florence, you are the man! Looks like you tripped over your panty hose on this. After seeing Jarvis the last 3 games, I would say bring back Blair, Luigi, and Kushner.
Obviously, UT saw something that you and I do not see this year! This early commitment is junk!
As for Kamren, he plays with heart and zeal. One thing you can always count on is that he will never stop trying. Maybe he is better suited for a different position, but he is a good player. He must hold the school record for the most wins.

Hawk is a good kid and a great leader for Gaither. Hope your foot heals quickly.

Mr. Florence you are wrong. That kid is a good QB and a tough kid. Don’t know what your looking at but Gaither isn’t as good without him in there. Hope the kid gets better.

Great job Mr. Florence, do you feel better after coming on here and bashing high school kids? Kids that busted their a$$ every day to do the right thing? Perhaps some are not college material and perhaps some are, but you my friend have REAL issues if it gets your rocks off to come to a public forum and bash teenagers. Perhaps your son is the back up QB or RB and not getting what you feel is fair because you think little Johnny is an All-American because he tore it up in TBYFL. There’s plenty of professional help available for your condition, I suggest you sek it.

Gaither would be better with Hawkins on the sideline where he belongs. His toughness and playmaking abilities are in qustion as well as his throwing accuracy. The kid would be better suited as a defensive back not a QB! Gaither will make the playoffs because of a district that can be compared to that of the Northside PEE WEE Dolphins. Just think, if Jarvis Giles showed up to any of the big games Gaither might have a better record. I expect Giles to return back home in a year because of his lack of toughness at Tennessee. If Giles thinks playing against Mitchell is tough, wait until he plays the SEC!
