PORT CHARLOTTE—Weather permitting (there’s a 60 percent chance of rain), here is the schedule for the Rays’ first full-squad workout Wednesday:
10 a.m. – Players take field for meeting.
10:50 a.m. – Pitchers throw off mounds.
11:10 a.m. – Individual defensive work.
12:15 p.m. – Batting practice
1:15 p.m. – Off the field.
All 57 players invited to camp are expected Wedneday. The number represents the second-fewest players the Rays have ever auditioned at major league spring training (after 56 in 2008).
