Friedman opts out of being candidate for Astros’ GM job

DALLAS The Rays put to rest those rumors of executive VP of baseball Andrew Friedman leaving Tampa Bay to be GM of his hometown Astros on Monday when team president Matt Silverman released this statement:
“Andrew chose not to be a part of the Astros’ process. It is in no way a reflection on the Houston organization.”
The Astros received permission last week to interview Friedman about their opening, and Friedman was reported to be the Astros top candidate.
