Former University of South Florida guard/forward Cedric Smith has been named the new boys varsity basketball coach at Freedom, athletic director Elijah Thomas announced.
Smith inherits a team that went 10-12 last season under Travis Priddy, whom Thomas said resigned for person reasons.
After playing at USF between 1997-2001, Smith worked as an assistant at a number of colleges, including USF as a video coordinator. Thomas said Smith has had coaching stints at Saint Leo, Virginia Tech and most recently Radford University.
