Freedom High athletic director Elijah Thomas announced Tuesday that Mason Woodside has been hired as the school’s new baseball coach and as a Physical Education teacher.

Woodside was the Director of Athletics and baseball coach at Steeleville High School in Steeleville, Ill.

Woodside replaces AJ Leppla, who resigned earlier in the summer. Leppla, who took over the Patriots in 2010, was 34-37 and led Freedom to its first winning season (15-10) and its first playoff appearance in 2012.
