Freedom High will begin its search for a new head football coach Friday when it starts the interview process for the 13 candidates who have applied for the job, athletic director Eli Thomas said.
The Patriots’ administration will be replacing Tchecoy Blount, who compiled a 5-15 record as coach the past two years. Last season, the Patriots went 2-8 with wins over Chamberlain and Wiregrass Ranch. Prior to becoming head coach, Blount was an assistant for five seasons at Freedom.
The Freedom job is one of seven head football openings the county had at the start of the new year. Three of those—Chamberlain, Lennard and Riverview—have been filled. Still to be named are coaches at Blake, Brandon, Strawberry Crest and Freedom.
