The United Football League’s four teams are scheduled to open training camps on Friday, and four former USF football players will be among those vying for roster spots.

Receivers Amarri Jackson and Huey Whittaker and kicker Delbert Alvarado will start camp with the Virginia Destroyers, while cornerback Trae Williams will do so with the Las Vegas Locomotives.

Both Jackson and Whittaker played for the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm in 2011. The duo finished first and second for the Storm in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions.

Jackson finished with 125 catches, 1,619 yards and 35 touchdowns, all Storm rookie records. Whittaker, meanwhile, finished with 125 receptions for 1,405 yards and 28 touchdowns despite missing the final two regular season games; he’d left to join the UFL ranks near the end of the season as the league was set to begin Aug. 13, but the start was delayed.

The third UFL season begins Sept. 15, with four teams each playing a six-game schedule.
