Former USF women’s basketball assistant coach Andrea Williams is back in the Tampa Bay area this week for the Black Coaches and Administrators’ national convention at Innisbrook.
The BCA’s website features a story on her recent hiring as head coach at the Air Force Academy.
Williams spent the two past seasons on USF coach Jose Fernandez’s staff during his second stint in Tampa.
She was as assistant coach at the University of Tampa from 1999-2002.
Williams is no stranger to being recognized by the BCA. In 2006, she was one of 11 female college coaches accepted into the Achieving Coaching Excellence Program by the BCA.
Click here to check out a video interview with Williams shortly after she was named Air Force’s head coach – she talks about her time in Tampa, the challenges of recruiting at a service academy, and her lifelong dream of running her own program.
The BCA convention runs through Saturday and features several prominent coaches, including former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy.
