The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed CB Stoney Woodson to the practice squad. Woodson, a Middleton grad, was originally drafted in the seventh-round by the New York Giants in this year’s NFL Draft. Woodson became Middleton’s first Division I recruit, signing with South Carolina in 2004.
He redshirted his freshman year at South Carolina but played in all 12 of South Carolina’s games the following season. In 2006, he led South Carolina with three interceptions. Last season, he recorded 26 tackles despite missing two games with a hamstring injury.
He entered last year’s Outback Bowl against Iowa with 25 tackles and a team-best four interceptions, including a 68-yard return for a touchdown against Tennessee.
