Former Lightning goaltender hospitalized

Former Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Pat Jablonski is at Tampa General Hospital after undergoing surgery on Tuesday following an accident while body surfing off the waters of Anna Maria Island on Sunday.

A team spokesman confirmed that Jablonski underwent a procedure on Tuesday, but was unclear as to the severity of the injury, although it is not considered to be life threatening. The team is hopeful Jablonski can make a full recovery.

Jablonski, 41, appeared in 58 games for Tampa Bay in two seasons with the Lightning from 1992-93 to 1993-94. The native of Toledo, Ohio, compiled a 13-30-7 record with a 3.95 goals against average while with Tampa Bay. Jablonski appeared in 128 games with five teams, playing his last season in the NHL with Carolina in 1997-98. He finished playing career in 2001 following two seasons with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League before returning to the Tampa Bay area.
