Former Bloomingdale High golf standout Brad Schneider recently finished 29th at The Players Championship in Hilton Head, S.C., a tournament that hosted 80 of the nation’s top amateur golfers.
Schneider, now a sophomore on the University of Central Florida golf team, finished the 72-hole event at 8-over par 296, 14 strokes back of the winner, Jacksonville native and University of Alabama sophomore Bud Cauley.
Schneider shot rounds of 74, 75, 77 on the par 72 West course at Belfair Golf Club to make the 60-man cut for the final day. In his final round, Schneider shot a 2-under 70.
Schneider, a 2007 Bloomingdale grad, was the Tribune’s Boys Golfer of the Year in 2004 and was a Tribune All-Hillsborough County first-team pick in each of his final three seasons with the Bulls.
Last season at UCF, Schneider was a All-Conference USA second-team pick and a member of the All-Conference USA Freshman Team.
