Former Brandon basketball standout Blake Allen has signed with Division I Youngstown State.
Allen, who graduated from Brandon in 2008, helped lead the Eagles to the Class 5A state semifinals in 2007. He led the Eagles in scoring that season with 19.3 points per game and finished his career with 2,006 career points.
Allen was also selected to the 5A all-state second-team and Tribune All-County first team, as well as being a TBBCA all-star.
After a year of prep school, Allen spent one season at Redlands Community College in Oklahoma, where he averaged 14.2 points and 4.2 assists as a freshman. He has three years of eligibility remaining at Youngstown, which plays out of the Horizon League, also home of 2009-2010 NCAA men’s national runner-up Butler and former Wharton star Shawn Vanzant.
