Concord sophomore defensive back R.J. Anderson, a former Armwood High standout, recently earned all-conference honors from the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Anderson earned All-WVIAC honorable mention honors after finishing the 2009 season with 40 tackles, a forced fumble and a team-best two interceptions, one of which was returned a school-record 100 yards for a touchdown against Southern Virginia.
A football and baseball standout for the Hawks, Anderson graduated from Armwood in 2005. He signed a football scholarship with USF but opted for a professional baseball career out of high school after being selected in the ninth round of the 2005 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers.
Anderson landed last season at Concord, a Division II program located in Athens, W. Va., and appeared in seven games with the Mountain Lions in 2008. He was a starter in the Concord secondary this year.
