Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis, whose 27-yard field goal was the game-winning kick in last Saturday’s 23-20 win against Arkansas, was named the SEC special teams player of the week on Monday.
It was the first last-second game-winning kick for UF since Matt Leach’s 33-yard field goal with 33 seconds left to beat Georgia 16-13 in 2003.
Sturgis also made a 51-yarder against Arkansas, the first field goal from beyond 50 yards by a Gator since 2004.
