This week’s Florida Boxing Hall of Fame induction weekend is quickly approaching. Here’s a story on the event, which will feature Muhammad Ali and Don King.
The three-day event kicks off Friday night. Here’s the schedule of events:
FLORIDA BOXING HALL OF FAME
The Florida Boxing Hall of Fame kickoffS its three-day schedule of events Friday in Tampa. Muhammad Ali headlines the state’s list of 20 inductees and three special awards honorees.
WHERE: All events will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 5303 West Kennedy Blvd.
FRIDAY: “Meet the Inductees” cocktail party, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
SATURDAY: Memorabilia show, autograph sessions, book signings fist casting for each living inductee, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets: $5 in advance, $10 at the door; Gala dinner and silent auction, 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $85 (advance only).
SUNDAY: “Breakfast with the Inductees”, 8:30-10 a.m. Tickets: $20 (advance only). Induction ceremony, 11:30 a.m. Free to public.
INDUCTEES: Fighters: Muhammad Ali, Yama Bahama, Gomeo Brennan, Barbara Buttrick, Bobby Dykes, Eddie Flynn, Tommy Gomez, Frank Otero, Willie Pep and Elmer Ray; Trainers/Managers: Dan Birmingham and Al Bonanni;
Promoters: Phil Alessi and Don King; Historian: Enrique Encinosa; Official/Commission: Don Hazelton; Nonparticipant: Bob Alexander, Jay Edson, James “Smitty” Smith and Lou Viscusi; Special Awards: Mike Birmingham, Ramiro Ortiz and Steve Yerrid.
