ANAHEIM, Calif. - What a play by Marty St. Louis on Tampa Bay’s goal. I mean, what a play. That’s the Marty St. Louis that I remember from his MVP year, the guy just absolutely took off on the penalty kill once the Lightning had control of it. Vinny Lecavalier collected it at center ice and basically just let Marty go, and go he did. He attacked Chris Pronger and left him flat-footed as he wheeled right around him like he was a floating pylon and beat Jonas Hiller for his 27th career shorthanded goal.
That, folks, is the sign of a guy who is just sick of losing, and he is sick of losing.
Unfortunatley for the Lightning, that is their only goal of the period and they only have a one-goal lead. Tampa Bay has been scoring a lot of first goals of lately, but for the most part hasn’t been building on them. That’s what happened last night in Phoenix when Andrej Meszaros scored the first goal of the game, but the Lightning never led again after that.
On a much different note, the rumors of Vinny Lecavalier being dealt again continue to pop up. I’ve stayed away from addressing them, for the most part, because I still think they are a load of hockey sticks, even with the team’s recent run of rumors coming to fruition. Here is a link from TSN that shoots down the latest round.

The fact that this is even coming up just ticks me off. I mean, this does nothing but remind me of the Dan Boyle incident and we all know how well that turned out. If Koules thinks fans are PO’d about the state of the team now, imagine what will happen if Vinny ships out. It’ll be an all out revolt.

Over his career, how many times have there been rumors of a trade for Vinny? Now, how many of the rumors have come to fruition? I think this is another ill-founded rumor and nothing more.
