This one is mercifully over here at the Sun Dome. Kent State never had a chance as the Bulls improve to 5-1 on the young season, their best start since Stan Heath took over the program three years ago.
I’ll post my final game story for tomorrow’s edition of The Tampa Tribune on the blog before I exit the building.
Gus Gilchrist had another strong performance, scoring a team-high 19 points and adding six rebounds.

kent was not nearly physical enough or quick enough to play with this usf team….heath has done a good job of putting together some athletes in a short time from the ruins left by mccullum….i hope they can get even more physical as big east play starts…they will need it…and crater will be a huge addition….looks like we have some freshmen that can fill it up in spot duty as well…the future looks bright on the hardwood

Hey rashad, Kent State coach Geno Ford said the same last night…he said it was like men and boys in first 10 minutes of game when USF blew to 24-4 lead thanks to physical play.
I’m like you, I’ll be interested to see if Bulls can play with more physical teams in Big East…Fitzgerald and Famous should help in that regard.

i was dubious about toarlyn fitzgerald at first but he showed some skills against kent….looking forward to seeing if he can have a follow up performance tonight….we need to play physical in the big east…..that has been a big part of our problem in recent years….and having that go to guy to break a scoring slump…and with crater and some of the freshmen it looks like we might be able to have a shooter come in to stop the other team’s on a run
