It was much closer than most people probably expected, but the University of South Florida Bulls did pick up their second win of the season Saturday night, defeating Western Kentucky 24-12.
Demetris Murray had a game-high 113 rushing yards and USF scored three times on the ground to send the visiting Hilltoppers to their 24th consecutive loss.
While Western Kentucky did manage two fourth-quarter touchdowns against the Bulls, the USF defense was able to slow down Hilltoppers running back Bobby Rainey (21 carries, 63 yards), who entered as the nation’s fifth-leading rusher.
