The Robertson Racing crew is hard at work making repairs to the #40 Doran Design Ford GT that was heavily damaged in a single-car accident during testing Monday for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh From Florida. Parts are being flown in from the team’s headquarters in Braselton, GA. Andrea Robinson of Ray, MI, was driving when the accident happened earlier today.
Meanwhile, testing for today has ended and Surprise! Suprise! —the Peugeots are fastest!! Unofficially, the #07 Peugeot 908 HDI FAP was quickest around the 3.7-mile Sebring International Raceway lumpy and bumpy track at 1:45.084, just a tick above the official track LMP1 qualifying record lap of 1:44.974 by Marco Werner in an Audi R10 TDI in 2007. The #08 Peugeot was second at 1:45.112 and the #37 Intersport Racing Lola B06 10 AER was third at 1:45.858.
Unfortunately, the status of the #37 car is uncertain following Jon Field’s accident earlier Monday. The car got airborne and crashed heavily, and the team is still determining if it can be repaired in time for Saturday’s race.
In GT2 action, the #62 Risi Ferrari 430 GT was quickest at 2:01.901, followed by the #92 BMW E92 M3 and then the #3 Corvette ZR1 at 2:02.816.
Drivers were not listed in the unofficial times that were not officially distributed.
