USF’s only matchup this season with an FCS opponent was a lopsided one, with the Bulls routing Florida A&M, 70-17, on Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium.
The Bulls set a Big East Conference record with 745 yards of total offense and scored the second-most points in program history, behind only the 80 in the program’s first game against Kentucky Wesleyan in 1997.
Junior quarterback B.J. Daniels had another career night, tying the program single-game record with 382 passing yards while throwing for a career-high four touchdowns. Daniels added a fifth score on the ground.
Junior running back Darrell Scott also had a huge game, rushing for a career-high 146 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries and adding another 84-yard scoring reception.
The Bulls defense limited the Rattlers to 181 total yards and forced two turnovers, while USF’s special teams produced a touchdown for the second consecutive game. True freshman receiver Andre Davis blocked a punt, picked up the loose ball and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
USF improved to 3-0 on the season, the fifth time in the last six years the Bulls have begun the year with three consecutive wins. USF faces UTEP at home next Saturday.
