The Florida High School Athletic Association announced today that it has changed the site for the boys and girls state soccer finals and finalized the schedules for the boys and girls basketball.
For basketball, an extra day has been added to the basketball state finals, with the girls beginning Tuesday, Feb. 21 and running through Saturday, Feb. 25, while the boys are Tuesday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 3. All games will be played at The Lakeland Center with tickets at $10 a piece.
FHSAA also reached an agreement with the University of South Florida to host the 2012 boys and girls soccer state championships games at the Corbett Soccer Stadium, and Wharton will be the host school. All state semifinal games will be played at school sites and the top line of the bracket in the classification’s tournament tree will be the host school in every scenario.
The girls state championship games will Friday, Feb. 10 for Classes 1-2A and Saturday, Feb. 11 for Classes 3-5A, while boys games will be Friday, Feb. 17 for Classes 1-2A and Saturday, Feb. 18 for Classes 3-5A.
In addition, The FHSAA Network announced it will live audio stream all four state championship games this weekend from the Citrus Bowl for Classes 5-8A. The live feed can be found at FHSAA’s multimedia partner, http://www.playonsports.com.
Armwood (14-0) faces Miami Central Saturday at 1 p.m. for the Class 6A title, while Plant (13-1) will face Orlando Miramar at 7 p.m. for the Class 8A title, and it marks the 11-consecutive season Hillsborough County will have at least one team in a state title game.
