Former Pasco High defensive end Zach Faza has found himself in a pretty sweet predicament this Spring. The 2009 Pasco grad was added as a walk-on to the USF football team and has been gifted with a locker as well as a No. 99 jersey.
He is one of 14 total walk-ons for the Bulls.
“He made it through the first cut,” Pasco coach Tom McHugh said.
Faza was one of the team captains during the 2008 season in which Pasco went 12-2, falling one game shy of competing for a Class 3A state title.
As a senior, Faza collected 49 tackles – sixth best on the squad, had 4.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
During Faza’s final two years at Pasco High, he didn’t take a high school class. Instead, he was participating in the state’s dual enrollment program, which allows high school students to take college courses. He took his at Pasco-Hernando Community College.
