LAKE BUENA VISTA - The Bucs may not be sitting out the Brett Favre trade talks after all.
Though it was believed that the Bucs and Jets had both decided to wait until Favre reported to camp to renew any trade talks with the Packers, we are now hearing of a discussion between the Bucs and Packers that supposedly took place on Saturday. And the end result may be why the Favre saga is suddenly at a standstill.
It is believed that the Bucs and Packers were close to an agreement on compensation but that the agreement fell apart sometime on Saturday.
The sticking point is no doubt the Packers demand for a conditional draft pick that would become a No. 1 based either on Favre’s performance or his new team gaining a berth in the playoffs.
That has always seemed to be a rather hefty asking price and it seems the Bucs have balked at that. It is believed that the Jets are continuing to sit this thing out, and that may be where the Bucs are now.

...Allen and Gruden won’t get fooled again…they built winning teams in two different cities…while we might not all agree on their tactics etc., Raider nation dudes miss them…so BUC fans Favre is not worth a first or second rounder for one year and he doesn’t give a flying #### for Tampa…lets pass and get down the road…go Garcia, McKown, Griese, Simms, Madonna….etc

Ted Thompson is finally getting it stuck to him.
In a football league that accepts criminals and thugs you would think a future hall of famer should be able to change his mind aboutretirement and play football again. Favre is going to look great in a Buc uniform.

A first round pick for a guy whose last pass was a season-ending interception depriving his team of a Super Bowl appearance? I wouldn’t trade a first round WNBA pick for Favre and the weepy-eyed drama that accompanies him…

Farve would continue right where he left off in Green Bay. But in a new system he will struggle just as he did in Green Bay under new management, coach, and new players. Green Bay will regret this move and the GM is an idiot. I hope where ever he lands he does well

I believe this is what he said…....“Yeah, but not just to the teams you want me to go to,” Favre said, relaying his conversation with the Packers’ GM.

I hear Fran Tarkenton is still available.

More importantly, Favre suggested to Mortensen @ ESPN that “He’s all for a trade, just not to the 2 teams being mentioned” Which tells me that his relationship with Gruden might be not be too good. That’s extremely shocking =), yeah right! He may not have a choice here very soon, but, if he did decide to come here, would it work?

i do agree steve dont think trade is worth #1 pick. #2 or#3 maybe or simms and a pick trade garcia or greise for the pick! because chanches like these dont come around very often. go for IT!!!!!!!!!

Are we willing to give up a possible #1 pick for Favre who may only play one more year. I think we have a good quarterback in Garcia.

I don’t think it really matters where Favre goes, it just won’t work.
You can take a player out of the cheese, but you can’t take the cheese out of the player. If I were a Bucs fan, I would be against this deal.
