The Brett Favre saga could end with the NFL icon in pewter.
The Tribune has learned Favre will not stand in the way of a trade from Green Bay to Tampa Bay and the deal is likely to be finalized within 24 hours.
The chances of the trade unraveling are remote and Favre has indicated to the Bucs directly that he is willing to change teams after 16 years of growing his legend in Green Bay.
The Packers, unwilling to deal the 3-time league MVP to an NFC North rival, view the Bucs as a compromise in this ugly impasse. The Bucs view Favre as an upgrade on QB Jeff Garcia, who made the Pro Bowl in 2007 while leading Tampa Bay to an NFC South title.
Once it became clear to Favre that he wasn’t welcome back in Green Bay, he became more flexible in terms of accepting a trade to clubs outside the division. The Bucs have been interested in Favre since last month, when he announced he wanted to play again.
The Bucs could make the trade announcement official by Wednesday, but Favre will have little time to learn Coach Jon Gruden’s complex system because the Bucs open the regular season Sept. 7 at division rival New Orleans.

Hey Lighting fan, Your a IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The proof is… Only a complete moron would go into a forum that is meant for intelligent discussion and post something so high school. It says a lot about you. Your one of those homophobes, who’s payback in life is that when you have kids (god forbid) they will go up to be gay. Gay, White, Black who cares!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s people like you that keep this world from truly becoming united as one race, HUMAN.

Patricia gets the “dumb comment of the day award”...just when you think women are staring to learn the game….

joeberard. The Jets offensive line is as follows:
LT-D’Brickashaw Ferguson
LG-Alan Faneca(best FA O-lineman in ‘08)
C-Nick Mangold(future Pro Bowler)
RT-Brandon Moore
RG-Damien Woody(got him from NE…....need I say more?)
Why wouldn’t Brett want to play behind that O-line?

Yeah, we are happy Packer fans are moving on because you are going from a Super Bowe contender to the toliet bowl this year with Aaron Rogers and allowing the Bucs to take your Hall of Fame QB and win the first ever NFL championship in their own city this year! Thank you Packer head office!

To Patricia,
ARE YOU SERIOUS?
COME ON NOW….

I think what people aren’t understanding with this whole situation is that the Pack is one of the youngest teams in the NFL..regardless of the “play for this year” mentality I know everyone will reference, the Pack is obligated to plan for the future. Allowing Brett back will bring the same crap-dance after next year. Give Aaron the ball and the experience needed to be successful in the years to come.
Thank you for the memories Brett, but you made your bed…sleep in it!! For years you made us believe you would play for free, ANYWHERE, as long as you could play; now you are singing a different song. Trust me, fellow football fans, when I tell you that the vast majority of Packer fans (not FAVRE fans)are happy to be moving on.

I remember when GB ousted TB 10 yrs ago or so. It was the week after the Bucs 20 -10 win over the Lions. Brett Favre was well hated by the Bucs faithful way back when. What has changed since then and how would he be received now? Two years ago he had a terrible season. What’s he got left in the tank? Was last year?, “all I have left, I have nothing more to give” as he quoted!
I don’t want to see our Bucs mortgage the future on this.
To all my old friends in Winterhaven area, how’s it goin, eh?

Flash, Brett Favre was just seen leaving a Gulfstream G-4 at Dolphin Aviation in SRQ. He was picked up by Dick Vitale in his Mercedes. This is truly AWESOME BABY!!!

Just another note. It’s funny that the packers fans say what their media is telling them, the tampa fans repeat what their media is telling them, and the new york fans are repeating what their media is telling them. When no one really knows. Brett will go where he goes if anywhere. And no one from either Team is going to say anything until it’s a done deal. We have no control as fans and if he does come to tampa. it will be what it will be good or bad. All we can do as Buc fans is hope for the best. and hope that the powers that be learn to respect all our players and treat them how they should be treated. Remember Lynch?

Again I ask the question; what does Brett Favre have Jeff Garcia doesn’t? Answer: nothing, but Jeff Garcia has the balls to scramble out of the pocket if the front line breaks down to try to make the play- Dear OLD Brett won’t.

To joe berard, enjoy your season with your new whacko QB and your other old and ugly one.

Wow, look at the Buzz now. We don’t even have him yet, and all this. Look at the Attention already. How can this be a bad move, other than all the crazy’s? So a… Cali, are you ready to be a Buc Fan yet? How bout them Saints? You’re in trouble son. Garcia was seen at home today having Carmella baby him. She is more voluptuous now with the new baby, & Jeff needs a big one to cry on. The nanny just took the baby out for a stroll. Jeff is getting nursed from mama, but it isn’t his leg that’s getting treatment.

Gracia is not going; the Bucs have traded Griese and an undisclosed draft pick for Favre so it will be Favre and Garcia versus Rodgers and Griese in Week 4.
There is going to be a slaughter in Tampa that week, lol!

I’m almost ashamed to be called a Packer fan for what the Packer organization is doing to Brett Favre. We will see what exactly Brett meant to the Packers when we start out 4-4 and Rodgers stats are 10 TDs and 16 INTs.
If Brett does go to TBay I will be there September 28th cheering him on & I hope he leads your Bucs to a Superbowl victory.

Look the bottom line is both Garcia and Favre are 38. Favre has had the better career, Garcia is no slouch. I feel that Favre is a bigger threat in real game play, he will stretch the defense and open the running game and short game Green Bay always had a great screen play. No one knows if this will be a great move or a dumb one. For me i think it is un fan like to bash a hall of famer that brought your team all that Brett has. A true fan supports their team good moves and bad. If Favre ends up here in tampa we will embrace him and hopefully the Bucs will do right by Garcia as well.

I think it’s kinda irresponsible for an article to appear in here about Brett coming to Tampa Bay when ESPN reported he was talking to BOTH the Buccaneers and Jets about a possible trade. Does anyone really think the Packers are going to trade him to a team in their conference who is on their schedule? When they trade him, they want to make sure they never see him again. The Jets have a better offensive line anyhow and as reported up here, his people want him to go the Jets. This should be interesting, though.

Garcia is a fantastic decision maker and I would be pissed if I was a fan. 28 TDs to 4 INT’s. With brett you will be looking at about the same # of TD’s give or take a few. The INTs onthe other hand, just wait until Brett feels some phantom pressure, rolls out of the pocket closes his eyes and hucks it downfield into double coverage. I know optimism is running high in TB right now but Breet needs perfect surrounds and how bad of a galre will Chucky have after brett throws that first INT on 2nd and 8…
