Fort Hays State junior wide receiver O.J. Murdock, a former Middleton High standout, recently was named to the All-Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association football team.
Murdock earned all-conference second-team honors after leading the Tigers with 697 receiving yards and eight touchdown receptions while averaging a conference-best 19.9 yards per catch on 35 receptions.
Murdock, a former football and track star at Middleton, was the Tribune’s Male Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2005. He signed a football scholarship with South Carolina out of high school but left the Gamecocks’ program near the end of the 2006 season.
Murdock played junior college ball in Mississippi in both 2007 and 2008 before transferring to Fort Hays State, a Division II program located in Hays, Kan.
