Former Robinson High standout Javier Arenas has earned a new distinction: All-American.
Arenas, a senior defensive back at the University of Alabama, on Thursday was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team.
Arenas was one of four Crimson Tide players to earn All-America honors. He was the only player with local ties on the team.
The Tribune’s Joey Johnston wrote on Arenas in a TBO.com Wake-Up Call earlier this week. You can find that story HERE.
Arenas and his Alabama teammates will play for a spot in this season’s BCS national title game when they face top-ranked Florida in Saturday’s Southeastern Conference championship game.
