Former Jesuit High standout pitcher Sam Dyson was among the plethora of players to sign before MLB’s deadline.
Dyson, a right-hander who helped South Carolina win a national championship this year, agreed to terms with the Toronto Blue Jays and received a $600,000 signing bonus according to Baseball America. Dyson was the Jays’ fourth-round pick.
Dyson, a 2006 Jesuit grad, went 6-5 with a 4.28 ERA and struck out 101 in 103 innings pitched this past season for the Gamecocks, who defeated UCLA in the College World Series best-of-three championship series to claim the program’s first national title.
