Former Gator football standout Errict Rhett will represent the University of Florida on Wednesday, as Nike will reveal a Gator-themed Pro Combat uniform in New York City.
The company selected Florida as one of 10 schools to wear the newly designed uniforms for at least one game during the upcoming season. The game will be announced at the 10 a.m. unveiling.
Nike engineered the new uniforms to provide superior protection and durability, while reducing weight.
A first-team All-American selection from Football News in 1993, Rhett completed his career in 1993 with 4,163 rushing yards, the most in school history and fifth most ever in the Southeastern Conference. Rhett and Emmitt Smith are the only Florida players to gain 1,000 rushing yards in a season twice.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked Rhett, the 1994 NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year, in the second round of the NFL Draft.
