USF and Miami are still tied at 3 entering the final quarter at Raymond James Stadium, but if the Bulls are going to pull out a victory they’ll have to do so with backup quarterback Bobby Eveld.
Starter B.J. Daniels was injured on a run midway through the quarter and left with what USF official termed a right shoulder sprain. Though Daniels’ return was officially listed as questionable, he’s been on the bench, without pads and his shoulder wrapped in ice, and it doesn’t appear as though he’ll see the field again today.
Miami had a chance to take the lead in the third quarter, though the Bulls defense came up with a big stand once the Hurricanes got into the red zone and then blocked a 42-yard field goal attempt by Jake Wieclaw. USF defensive end Ryne Giddins appeared to be the one to get his hand on the kick.
Eveld rallied the Bulls to a victory at Miami last season when he was forced into the game after Daniels got hurt.
