Through one quarter of action at Raymond James Stadium, USF and Cincinnati are tied at 7.
The Bulls were able to strike first behind a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive that quarterback B.J. Daniels capped with a 14-yard scoring strike to receiver Sterling Griffin. The drive came after the USF defense came up with a big turnover, with defensive back JaQuez Jenkins intercepting Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros in the end zone.
The Bearcats drove the length of the field to answer the Bulls score on their ensuing possession. Collaros capped a 71-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown pass to running back Isaiah Pead on a third-down play. It was the only time Cincinnati managed points despite three trips into the red zone. The Bearcats missed a field goal on their opening series and the second ended with Collaros’ interception.
The Bulls are in position to go back in front. Daniels, who has completed 8 of 10 passes for 107 yards, has led the USF offense deep into Bearcats territory again. The Bulls will have a first down at the Cincinnati 11 when the second quarter begins.
