East Bay defensive lineman Kieran Pettus, a captain on the 2011 Indians squad, has landed a preferred walk-on at the University of South Florida, athletic director Scot Tipton announced Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Pettus was a first team, all-Western Conference selection, as well as a participant in the Hillsborough County All-Star game. He was named the Indians’ defensive player of the year after leading the squad with 24 tackles for a loss and finishing second in tackles overall with 84.
Pettus was recently named a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete in Hillsborough County.
