East Bay senior pitcher Kayla Cox and East Bay softball coach Glenn Rodriguez have been named the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 5A Player and Coach of the Year. Cox becomes a finalist for Miss Softball while Rodriguez is a finalist for overall Coach of the Year.
Cox, who has signed with N.C State, went 18-1 on the mound with a .19 ERA and 282 strikeouts. She was later named a FACA All-Star and the Tribune’s 2010 Hillsborough County Softball Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Rodriguez, after 13 seasons as coach, guided the team to its first 5A state title, a 25-7-1 record, and a state and national ranking.
