Earnest Graham Likely Out For Season

Bucs coach Jon Gruden said RB Earnest Graham will likely not play again this season.

Graham sustained an ankle injury against Minnesota on Sunday when a defender fell on his ankle. Gruden said he does not expect Graham to play again this season.

“Earnest Graham’s ankle looks to be a serious injury and his status for the rest of the season is very much in question,” Gruden said. “Geno Hayes [linebacker] hurt his knee and we’re obviously real concerned about that as well. Both of those guy’s season could be in jeopardy right now.”

Tampa Bay will be forced to play with Warrick Dunn, Cadillac Williams and Clifton Smith, plus Gruden said there is a possibility FB B.J. Askew will receive work at running back.

Gruden also said the Bucs will look at other running backs to possibly sign.

“I don’t know the medical terms, but right now it doesn’t look like he [Graham] will play anytime soon.” Gruden said. “We’ll get the final results in the next couple of hours.”

ERF813 to answer your question, because to many Bucs fans are whiners and have low football IQs. As far as lineing Clayton up at HB, Askew is the shortyardage answer. He was quite good at the tiny school in Michigan back when 1/3 of the NFL teams had a HB from there. His move at the goaline last week was nice, and if he lost 10 pnds he’d have a little more quickness to play both spots.
The real problems with this team are our 2nd best LB just went down for the season and our QB is not smart enough. He can’t process info quickly when the field shrinks inside the 20. Gruden is then limited in what he can call. It’d be nice if we could have Jeff go 20-20 and Griese come in for the redzone (and to tell Garcia wich runs to audible to).

ref813, I agree with you 100%, It’s refreshing to read something actually positive from a fellow poster. If we could only fix those problems in the red zone. Here’s hoping =D

Boys stop all this crying. Graham was a work horse and when you continually ride him into a wall, injuries will occur. We picked up Dunn and Askew’s not lame. Caddi will either produce or be unemployed next year. We just need our remaining HB’s to stay healthy.  The reason Bennet is gone, he could never grasp the system. He was fast and could hit the hole with quickness. But it’s a problem when you don’t know what hole to hit. Why else would they have cut him if he was so valuable. Don’t buy the “someone had to go scenario”. Remember he came out of retirement for us and they were helping him get another job. We’ll be fine. “GO BUCS”!

2 words…Percy Harvin. The Bucs will be fine. Cadi will come back. If he gets hurt again, they will still be OK. Dunn looked great yesterday. BJ was back and played well too. The big factor is our defense is still in tact, and they were awesome again. 5 sacks. Peterson held to 85 yards. The only defensive player down is Phillips. No Hayes is down and that hurts, but players keep stepping up. 7-3 in route to 12-4 & a first round Bye. Defense Wins Championships & this one can too.

Well Buc fans, I know the Earnest Graham Injury is bad news. But lets not panic. I just don’t why everybody is jumping off Clifton Smith band wagon. Look at what he has done this season. He has worked very hard to get a crack at playing this year for Tampa. Remember he ran the ball back against KC that reverse Tampa loss into a Victory. Lets look around to see what will be available if caddy is not ready for another week. Maybe we need to run a dble TE and DBle WR at the same time. Tampa fans don’t panic. Its just means the offense will have to correct its errors. Espically That lineman TRUEBLOOD, He must change those errors, or like a few weeks ago would have to play backup and let that lineman take his place on the Line. GO BUCS.

Lol..  Yeah…Bennett is the answer….and Chris Simms is the QB of the future.

Get over it geniuses!

Posted by  Rob Garcia, Miami on 11/17  at  07:20 PM

Look to guy slike Najeh Davenport…solid guys that can drive for short yardage RED ZONE carries…there’s no deadline for free agents!

Posted by  Travis, Chicago, IL on 11/17  at  06:48 PM

First off, for the idiots who think that we can make a trade for Kevin Jones or to get Bennett back, that is about as dumb as McNabb admitting he didn’t know there was only 1 OT period. The trade deadline has already passed. Smith might fumble, for now, but so did Alstott for several years.  U weren’t bitchin then.  Eliot, Askew might be our fullback, but he is a converted fullback.  The only reason he signed with us is cuz gruden offered him carries.  That guy was a HB in college so we aren’t in as much trouble as you think.  Everyone needs to relax and have some faith.

Posted by  Matt Pipes, Tampa on 11/17  at  04:59 PM

Maybe this has been said already, but the Bucs had to either (a) let Caddy go on injured reserve last Wednesday or (b) activate Caddy and release someone else.  Bennett was the obvious person to release (ie: activate one RB and release another).  The timing of Graham’s injury is horrible, but the Bucs really couldn’t have handled it any other way.  I just hope Caddy is up to being an NFL running back again.  He didn’t look that good last year before getting injured.  We’ll see.  We have a lot riding on his legs now.

Posted by  ref813, memphis on 11/17  at  02:59 PM

They didn’t like Bennett before and they aren’t going to change their minds now.  Why can’t you people let it go?  I wanted to see more of him, but we never did for whatever reason.  None of us is the coach, so there’s nothing else to say about it.  Get over it.  Some of you probably wanted something like this to happen just so you could come in here and blame Gruden for dropping Bennett so he could activate Williams.  We are 9th in the league in yards/game.  We are 5th in D.  The only other 2 teams in the top 10 in both are the Giants and Philly.  Why all of the crying?

Posted by  oar,  on 11/17  at  02:41 PM

RobloCop Get over Thomas Jones. He took more money (we were in cap hell, thanks McKay) to play w/bears(whom he no longer plays for. Go watch the Jets. Also he had fumblidis with us 5 fumbles….so who cares!
And Greg Bradenton where’s larry and curly you stooge.

Posted by  kobefan, Tampa on 11/17  at  02:22 PM

what was wrong with Bennett, did he ##### of Gruden like others?  Clifton SMith fumbles too much and Caddy is injury prone

Thank god for Dunn
