Durham moves on in playoffs


TORONTO—Durham pounded Louisville 9-1 tonight to win its first-round playoff series and advance to the Governors’ Cup finals against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Catcher Matt Spring, who was moved up from Montgomery to take John Jaso’s spot after Jaso was recalled to the majors, drove in six runs for the Bulls. Jonny Gomes added another homer and Mr. Jon Weber went 4-for-5 for Durham.

Wade Davis allowed one run in six innings while striking out seven.

The Bulls open the Governors’ Cup on Tuesday in Moosic, Pa.

Price, Davis, and Niemann combined to go 3-0 0.95 ERA in the series,while striking out 24 in 19 innings!

Speaking of Durham.  They have a charity auction for their autographed game-used jersey replicated from the jerseys worn in the movie Bull Durham. The auction ends on Wednesday, September 10th. http://www.durhambulls.com/
