Durant senior linebacker Ruben Garcia has picked up a scholarship offer from Charleston Southern, a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) program.
Garcia, who finished among the Cougars leaders with 68 tackles in 2009, said the offer came Sunday after he made an official visit to Charleston Southern this weekend. His recruitment is still wide open, however.
Garcia was originally supposed to visit Florida Atlantic this weekend, but he is somewhat in limbo with the Owls at the moment. He had an offer from FAU, a Division I program, but his primary recruiter was let go from the staff and all of his recruits now are being re-evaluated.
Garcia said he will now make the trip to FAU next weekend, at which time he hopes to land a new offer. He said he also has been contacted by Florida International, another Division I program, about walking on.
