Durant will have to face Gaither without starting FB and RB

Durant will have to play against Gaither in Friday’s Class 7A Region 2 quarterfinal without junior fullback Jarmarlon Hamilton and sophomore running back Zach Hooper, who both suffered concussions against King last week.

Hamilton is Durant’s leading rusher with 1,038 yards and eight touchdowns while Hooper has rushed for 293 yards with one touchdown. Hooper is also Durant’s leading receiver with 202 yards and two touchdowns.

Durant coach Mike Gottman said sophomore Jonathon Jones will step into the starting role and senior defensive back/kick returner will play some at halfback.
