Duke University has made scholarship offers to junior wide receiver/defensive back Travis Johnson and sophomore linebacker/tight end Vincent Jackson, Tigers coach James Harrell confirmed Friday.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Johnson was one of the area’s top receivers last fall, hauling in a team-high 48 passes for 653 yards and four touchdowns. He was a member of the Tampa Tribune’s all-Hillsborough County offense on the second team. He also played in the defensive secondary, coming up with a team-best seven interceptions while producing 31 tackles. Johnson now has more than 30 offers from Division I football programs.
The 6-2, 213-pound Jackson had 62 tackles and tied for the team lead in sacks (8) with Robby Garcia. Duke follows Central Notre Dame and South Florida who have made an offer to Jackson.
