Downs released from hospital

TORONTO—Some good news from the Rays: Montgomery pitcher Darin Downs was released from St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham today, just over a week after he was struck in the head by a line drive.
Downs, who reportedly suffered a fractured skull, is headed home to West Palm Beach and is expected to make a full recovery and resume pitching next season.
