ORLANDO - It took a drive over to Orlando and a stop at the East-West Shrine game practices to do it but we finally caught up with Bucs General Manager Mark Dominik.
Dominik has been virtually invisible since the Bucs season ended, not even holding a post-season press conference to give his take on the season just past.
As it turns out, Domink has been silent for a good reason. He’s decided to wait until he’s completed the minor shakeup to the coaching staff that’s being made before adressing the media on that and other matters.
Dominik said he’s just about through with the process of tweaking the coaching staff and hopes to announce those changes shortly, possibly next week while at the Senior Bowl.
At this stage the staff changes appear to be minor in scope. The only changes of note will probably include changes in assistants working with wide receivers, defensive linemen and defensive backs.
It appears as though Head Coach Raheem Morris will continue to do double duty as both coach and defensive coordinator and Greg Olson will likely get another year - and an invaluable offseason - to prove himself as the offensive coordinator.
Dominik confirmed that the Bucs have been scrutinizing their scouting staff and with that unit’s contracts collectively expiring after the draft there is a chance for change there as well.
