Newsome senior wrestler Chandler Dobler continued his impressive season over the weekend at the inaugural Buzz Hill Invitational in Naples.
Dobler won the 152-pound individual title with a victory over Naples Lely’s Jordan Kinnett, helping the Wolves finish seventh at the 32-team event. Lakeland Lake Gibson won the tournament.
Dobler’s run through the tournament improved his overall record to 26-2, according to Coach Stephen Gilbert. Both of his losses have come against Brandon standout Joe Cozart, a three-time state champion ranked as the nation’s fourth-best in his weight class by InterMat.
Four other Wolves wrestlers managed to place in the top six. Garrett Fuglaar was third at 215 pounds, Jake Drake was fourth at 160, Matt Hinton was fifth at 145 and Dylan Hallford was sixth at 135.
