The Davey O’Brien Foundation will release its 2010 watch list for the upcoming season on Wednesday.
The O’Brien Award is presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback.
The question: Do you think USF sophomore B.J. Daniels will make the watch list?
No one will be more important to USF this season than Daniels, who started 10 games as a redshirt freshman last season following Matt Grothe’s season-ending knee injury.
Daniels is considered a preseason All-Big East first-team pick by some of the preseason magazines, so you would think he would have a strong shot.
Phil Steele’s preseason guide ranks Daniels the 28th-best quarterback in the nation. Steele has Florida State’s Christian Ponder ranked No. 5, Florida’s John Brantley No. 14, Miami’s Jacory Harris at No. 18, FSU back-up E.J. Manuel No. 37, and Florida Atlantic’s Jeff Van Camp No. 54 on his Top 60 list?
For the record, Steele ranks Washington’s Jake Locker, Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett as his 1-2-3.
