Despite Juco coach, Pierre-Paul became a Bull

Last season at Fort Scott Community College, DE Jason Pierre-Paul really, really wanted to come to USF. Only one problem, his coach wanted him to go to Nebraska. Pierre-Paul’s coach pressured him so much, that on National Signing Day, Pierre-Paul had to go to the school’s library to fax his letter of intent because he said he wasn’t allowed to use the fax in the football office to send it to USF.

Oh yeah, he also injured his neck in a game last season and was taken to the hospital. He was cleared at the hospital and returned to finish the game and even made a sack.

Also on the front page of today’s Tampa Tribune is Joe Henderson’s column about what’s next for USF QB B.J. Daniels.

Henderson writes:

“His legs are sore from running all over, through and around Florida State last Saturday, and it’s a wonder his back isn’t sore from all the people patting him there. And forget about all the text messages congratulating him for his play during the University of South Florida’s 17-7 victory against the Seminoles.

B.J. Daniels lost count of how many he received.

“A lot,” he said with a smile.

Yeah, it was quite a debut for the Bulls’ freshman quarterback, as he wrote an improbable first chapter at FSU in what promises to be an electrifying career for the Bulls.

Great job, kid. Now it’s over.”
