Deal For Stevens Not Close

TAMPA – We received a curious tip from someone earlier today suggesting that the Bucs were finalizing a contract for TE Jerramy Stevens.
We’ve checked that tip out with someone who would know whether a deal was near and apparently the tipster was wrong.
The Bucs may still be contemplating signing Stevens, but a deal bringing him back to the Bucs doesn’t appear to be as close as some are suggesting.
That doesn’t mean the Bucs don’t have an interest in re-signing Stevens. Despite the addition of TE Kellen Winslow they very well may.
And it could be that a deal gets done soon. From what we’re hearing, though, this one doesn’t seem imminent.

Why? He and K2 are redundant.

Yeah, there is no reason to have him Winslow, Smith, & Gilmore. Perhaps sign one more eligible for the PS.

you can line up winslow in the slot at times with smith and stevens at te. imagine the downfield threat there? include A Bryant (and hopefully a speed wr -Saints Henderson maybe? ) and we have a pretty impressive group.im not against him signing if we get him at a decent price

I will not support the Bucs as long as the serial rapist is on this team. Raheem, be a stand up guy and build a stand up team that the Tampa community can be proud of. Build the kind of team that Tony Dungy would. NO Jeramy Stevens!

Forget Stevens…he dropped more passes than he caught. Don’t like the guy. Let’s move on to better pastures.

While it’s true that the team needed to make changes, to consider bringing back a below average performer in Stevens, who, by the way, has far less character than talent, when you have just cut out the heart, soul and character of the team is a truly scary tone to set for the future. Stevens’ “alleged” crimes are a disgrace, and his involvement with the team is a disgrace to Tampa, the team and a slap in the face to its already smarting fans.

No need for Stevens.

Roy, fire your tipster. He giving you false information.
Stephen Holder over at the Times just owned you by quoting General Manager Mark Dominik being in talks with Stevens about re-signing.

Your info is way off. Stevens signed a 2-year deal this week. It’s over….and he is staying. So get used to him!

Roy, you suck, giving out false information. I’m going to have to take you out of my circle now.
