Deadline for signing picks is midnight tonight

Midnight tonight is the deadline to sign picks from the June draft and executive vice president of baseball Andrew Friedman expects the negotiations for most of the picks to push the deadline.

The Rays have yet to sign four of their top nine picks: RHP Taylor Guerrieri (24th overall), OF Mikie Mahtook (31st), 3B Tyler Goeddel (41st) and LHP Grayson Garvin (59th).

If they Rays don’t sign Guerrieri and/or Mahtook, they will receive compensation picks at that spot in the June 2012 draft.
