The University of South Florida will be without junior DE Craig Marshall (knee) for Saturday’s game against Louisville, Coach Jim Leavitt said.
Marshall, who has 20 tackles, is tied for the team lead with four sacks. Leavitt didn’t know how long Marshall will be out.
Leavitt declined to discuss other injured players – RT Zach Hermann (neck), WR Carlton Mitchell (ankle) and DT Aaron Harris (foot) – saying only that they’re “day-to-day.”
TAYLOR SLOWED: RB Jamar Taylor’s decreased role in the offense is due to a sore knee. The junior from Lakeland was sidelined with a knee injury suffered during preseason camp, but returned to action at Pittsburgh on Oct. 24.
“His knee has been sore,” Leavitt said. “He’s been struggling. That’s really the main reason. We couldn’t rep him through practice much. Now we played him on special teams, though, and you wonder, ‘How do you play him on special teams if his knee is sore?’ Well, it’s a touchy thing. He’s an incredible kid, and my heart’s broken for the guy.”
Taylor had five carries for 28 yards against Pitt, then three carries for 2 yards against West Virginia, and no carries against Rutgers.
BULLS-CANES SET: USF’s Nov. 28 game against Miami has been picked up by ABC and will be shown to a split national audience. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
This will be the second meeting between the programs, with the Hurricanes defeating USF 27-7 in Miami in 2005. The Bulls and Miami will play annually through the 2013 season.
There are 1,400 tickets still available for the game after Miami returned a portion of its allotment. For more details go to GoUSFBulls.com.

It is an absolute shame that the coaches made the terrible decision to not use a medical redshirt for Taylor this year.
We lost an outstandng running back for an entire year so he could share 7 carries with Plancher, Taylor, and Lamar.
I cannot understand the decision to bring him back late in the season and to use him sparingly. And I said so BEFORE they brought him back on another blog.

Have to agree with Steve… At the same time, it might have been Jamar saying he was ready to play because he wanted to be on the field (when he really wasn’t 100%). The coaches and docs aren’t mind readers. No player enjoys going through a whole off-season and not getting any playing time during the regular season. The off-season is pure hell. The regular season is where it’s at.

Yes, it’s a shame, but every year for, what, about 5 straight years now, I have heard about these great up-and-coming running backs that USF has, but they never materialize. It’s hard to gage talent from my seats in the stands, but Andre Hall must have been our last decent one, and in some USF games he didn’t look all that impressive. He was on and off with Denver: some good games, some mediocre games. I keep hearing that we have the talent, so is that wrong or are they coached wrong? Mike Ford has never seemed to develop into the powerhouse he was supposed to be, nor has Plancher… I could go on and on.
