Wade Davis will make his big-league debut Sunday, starting the Rays’ series finale against the Tigers at Tropicana Field.
The Rays officially recalled their top prospect from Triple-A Durham today and said he will arrive in town tomorrow. The Lake Wales native, who turns 24 on Monday, is 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 28 starts for Durham.
Slotting Davis into the rotation Sunday allows Andy Sonnanstine to pitch in Monday’s doubleheader at Yankee Stadium, where he pitched into the eighth inning earlier this year as the Rays won their first game at the new stadium.
