Daniels’ focus is on health, improvement

USF starting QB B.J. Daniels just did an interview at gousfbulls.com, the school’s official athletic website.

He still had a sling and lots of bandages on his left shoulder following Friday’s surgery. However, he was in good spirits and expects to be fully recovered by the time fall camp starts.

As for learning a new offense, he said Skip Holtz ran a spread offense at East Carolina similar to USF’s and he doesn’t expect a lot to change for him.

“I’m going to do whatever play is called,’’ Daniels said. “I just want to continue to improve in every aspect. Passing is something I like to do. I’m not afraid to say that.’‘

As for not playing basketball, Daniels said it was a tough decision but the right one to make considering he is the only experience quarterback on the roster.

“It was very hard,’’ he said. “My heart is with basketball ... but I felt it will benefit me in healing injuries. This offseason is real big for me to improve in every area.’’
