On Tuesday night at 8:35 p.m. in Philadelphia, it was 46 degrees and winds of 25 mph were blowing, but it was not raining.
Had Monday’s Game 5 of the World Series been postponed one day, it could in theory have been played Tuesday night.
If that’s not enough to continue second-guessing Commissioner’s Bud Selig decision, try this:
Monday’s game went off as scheduled, despite rain, presumably for the benefit of Fox television.
Ratings turned out to be as bad as the weather. It drew an 8.2 rating and 12 share nationally, Fox said, the lowest Game 5 rating of all time.
Overall, the Series has drawn an 8.1/14, down 24 percent from the Red Sox sweep over the Rockies last year.
