Crazier By The Day

So far the recruiting process is crazy. It gets crazier by the day. I’m getting anywhere from 20 to 30 letters a day and about 15 at school. A total of about 50 a day. I get calls from recruiting websites all hours of the day. Rivals, Scout.com, Gamecocks Central. It’s ridiculous. They want to know how the process is going, the offer situation, what camps am I attending and what unofficial visits I have taken. I am going to the NIKE camp in Gainesville and how the visits have went.

So far I have taken unofficial visits to the University of South Florida, University of Florida, University of South Carolina, Ole Miss and Alabama. USF was the hometown school and I want to make sure I wasn’t missing out on anything. It was pretty good, I enjoyed it and they are in need of a quarterback. I’ve been to Florida about seven or eight times and every time I’ve been there it’s been great. The coaches are a little crazy, but I like them. They know how to recruit. USC was one of the better trips I’ve taken. The only negative thing was it wasn’t a direct flight. Go up to Charlotte and down to Columbia. Other than that, they are an up and coming program and I like them. Actually, two of their recruits (Quinton Richardson – offensive lineman and Gary Gray - cornerback) are going to be coming down in a few weeks and staying with me. Ole Miss was awesome, too. Alabama was awesome. The tradition they have is great. They are renovating their stadium. The tradition just blew me away. Coach Shula is cool and a smart guy. Laid back, but real serious.

Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Alabama are my favorites right now. Anything can happen. I’m still up in the air right now. My main focus is our spring jamboree on May 18. We play Plant. I can’t wait to play to them, I’ve been wanting revenge since last year’s game.

I don’t know what camps I’m going to this summer. I’m hoping to get invited to the Elite 11 Camp, but first will be the Nike Camp.

Right now, I’m looking forward to this season, and help get attention to some of the other players we got on our team that have the opportunity to play D-1 football. We have a very good team this year, and I like our chances at running the table.

Stephen… Can you imagine having Spurrier as your mentor, & having Gary Gray, Richardson, Barnes, Clay Mathews, etc… as your teammates??  Not to mention, you will be protected by the top 5 OL class that was signed this year.  I wish you luck with your decision, but we would love for you to be a part of this special class,.. and be the first SC qb to ever win a SEC & national title.  This is the stuff legends are made of.

We need a young gun slinger that has the arm to match the attitude. We already have the perfect coach...for a QB that wants to have huge college stats…

Looks and sounds to me like you’d fit in just fine!

Stephen-
Come win a Championship with Coach Spurrier and the Gamecocks!  We’d love to see you in the Garnet and Black leading us to victory!

Go Cocks!

Stephen,
Any school in their right mind would love to have your signature and commitment to be their future QB.  All of your favorite schools have a good program going for them.  We would love to have you at Alabama.

ROLL TIDE

Go ahead and join the SuperFriends when they come to Florida and stay with you. They need a QB in the group and you are it. Come be a Gamecock!!

Alright, If you want to go to a place where I guarantee more fan support and passion than any of the other schools combined then try to Tuscaloosa, Al. Just think Stephen Garcia, “The quarterback that brought Bama back to the promise land.” Have a good season and best of Luck...o yeah Roll Tide!

You seem like a great player and I like the attitude that you display. I wish you all the luck no matter where you go but, I would like to see you come out to 2001 in Columbia.

We’d love to have you up here at Carolina Stephen.  Coach is building something special here that has never been done before.  Come be a part of history.  You could be the first Gamecock QB to win the SEC championship!  You’d be a hero at Florida or Bama if you did the same for them, but you’d be a legend here for the rest of your life.

Stephen,
May God bless you as you go through this incredibly exciting, yet difficult, decision in your life. I do admit I am a big Bama fan and certainly hope you end up in Crimson and White. I feel the people are what make the difference in Alabama. I am not talking about our passion for football (Which I do admit is probably unsurpassed) but the fact that we are genuine in a way that is warm and open. I hope you get to find that out during your recruitment.

I would like to wish you the best life has to offer. I would also like to say that I would love to see you playing for the Tide.

Stephen,

Bottom line - We need You and You can make a difference!  You can go to a program that has already achieved many accolades or you can go to a school to make history.  I hope your choice will be the University of South Carolina to achieve the first SEC championship.  Best of luck your senior year.

Hello Stephen, I cannot tell you the excitement that you have caused in the state with having USC under consideration. Your film is really amazing.. We have never been considered Quarterback U. But that is soon to change as you well know with Mr. Spurrier at the helm. You have the ability to take us to the top. Not just me, but my entire family hopes you choose us. Good luck & stay healthy.

I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to Columbia and The University of South Carolina. USC is an excellent school with a wide variety of degrees. The football team is headed in a very positive direction, with aspirations of championships in the near future. USC would be an excellent choice both academically and athletically. We are excited about the caliber and character of the students that are being recruited and would be honored if you join the 2007 class.

Stephen,
No matter where you decide to go you will succeed, and be appreciated by this Gamecock fan. But as a Gamecock I have to mention that at The USC, you have the ability to break records and be immortalized as the first. The first to win the SEC Title at USC the first to win a National Title at USC. With the middle name Achilles you will be akin to the great mythic warrior that lead his troops into battle. You can be the greatest QB, if not one of the greatest players to step foot on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Come be a Gamecock be come immortalized!

Stephen, Good luck this season. Would love to see you come play for the Gamecocks.

Don’t waste your time with someone who spends their time (and yours) talking about how bad this or that school is instead of their own.
Anyone can promise you the world but just follow what you feel in your heart.
Good luck and best wishes.

Stephen,

I wish you the very best during your Senior season.  It will be quite a memorable year for you.

I really hope you choose the Tide as your college destination.  Coash Shula is a class act and knows what the pros are looking for in a QB.  The Bama nation is passionate about football.  Here’s hoping you are our QB in the future!

Posted by  Mark Nichols, Knoxville, TN on 05/09  at  11:05 AM

It’s ultimately about what’s right for you, but I hope you strongly consider BAMA. They signed the best O-line class in the nation last year, good for your future health. Consistently have a great running game, again good for your health. Run a pro-style offense, unlike UF and USC. That will help your chances in future football hopes. They do not have a big name proven QB, you’ll have a chance to earn early playing time. Coach Shula and the rest of the staff are a class act that care about you as a person, a student, and then a football player in that order. Enjoy your senior year, it will go by fast.

Posted by  B. Ellison, Asheville, NC on 05/09  at  10:48 AM

I hope you enjoy your final year of high school football. It comes and goes extremely fast. I know you are looking forward to your next challenge and I hope to see you in Crimson next year. Pro style offense, 10-11 out of 13 games televised every year = big money to a good quarterback. Go where you are needed and where you feel most welcomed.

Posted by  Seth Schott, Montgomery, AL on 05/09  at  10:41 AM

Stephen, good luck.  You seem like a class young man.  We would love to see you in Crimson at THE University of Alabama.  Coach Shula and staff are doing great things, and you’d be a welcome addition.

Posted by  Brent L., Birmingham,Al on 05/09  at  10:37 AM

Stephen,
Just wanted to say good luck to you this upcoming season. Make sure you weigh all of your options when you are looking at the many colleges that want you to be part of their team. Coach Shula is all class and it shows a lot about your character that he wants you to be his future quarterback. The fan support and the tradition is overwhelming in Tuscaloosa. We would love to have you at Alabama. Here is to you having a great senior season.

Posted by  Steve Davidson, Madison Alabama on 05/09  at  10:09 AM

Best of luck this season !! Enjoy youyrself, you only get one senior year so enjoy it to the fullest. Love to see you in Crimson and White. Bart Starr, Joe Namath, Kenny Stabler, Richard Todd, Jay Barker, Brodie Croyle....next great one ???
