ST. PETERSBURG Left fielder Carl Crawford’s excellent week wasn’t obscured by the Rays’ 2-4 record on their interleague road trip to Atlanta and Florida.
Crawford was named AL Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .429 with a double, home run, three RBIs and three stolen bases.
He paced the majors with two triples and tied for the lead in runs with nine, while also posting an .810 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage that included seven walks, which tied for third in the majors.
Crawford, who ranks second in the All-star balloting among AL outfielders, scored three times and had an RBI triple and stolen base in a 10-4 win at Atlanta last Tuesday and collected four hits in a wild 9-8 win at Florida on Saturday.
He also collected a triple in that game, his AL-leading sixth of the season and the 98th of his career, moving him past Johnny Damon as the leader among active players
